A wedding in paradise ….. On May 8th, 2008 Crystal Coleman and Kevin Goulet were married at the Royal Playa Del Carmen Resort. Thirty Eight of their family and friends accompany them to Mexico to share their special day. The beautiful bride was escorted by her father to the gazebo by the ocean to join Kevin to exchange their vows. The bridesmaids were lovely in their deep purple dresses and the groomsmen stayed cool in their white linen shirts, black pants and sandals. After the wedding champagne was served to the happy group as photos were taken on the beach. That evening the guest made their way into the ballroom for the reception and were treated to a fabulous meal. In the ballroom the MC invited the guest to share their stories about Crystal and Kevin’s life and then everyone danced the night away celebrating with the happy couple. What a perfect way to start your life together. The guests soon discovered luxury around every corner, all provided in an atmosphere of casual elegance boasting a perfect beachfront location. The Royal Playa Del Carmen Resort is mere steps from Playa del Carmen’s famed Fifth Avenue with hip night spots, trendy cafes and colorful shops. On April 20th, 2008 I had the pleasure of accompanying Clint Riggins and Lorilee Jacques along with 45 of their family and friends to the Majestic Colonial Resort in Punta Cana for their beautiful beach wedding. It is located on the shore of one of the most incredible beaches in the world. The Majestic Colonial Resort is a spectacular 5 star all inclusive resort. A perfect place to relax, this hotel features a amazing free-form pool, along with a Jacuzzi, tennis courts and other recreational facilities.Everyone enjoyed the spacious junior suite accommodations, the variety of specialty restaurants and bars, all the water sports and activities, the lively casino and the fabulous entertainment. The wedding took place on the incredible white sand beach surrounded by the clear turquoise ocean. The beautiful bride Lorilee was truly a “Princess bride” in her lovely full length white gown and sparkling tiara. She was escorted across the sand to by her brother Darryl and mother Shirley to the archway covered in white lace where her soon to be husband Clint was waiting. The service was performed by a Justice of the Peace in Spanish and translated into English by the wedding coordinator. After the Wedding ceremony, champagne was served on the beach for the happy couple and their guests. The informal reception was held in the Rodeo Steakhouse – an open air restaurant located near the beach. The rest of the week was spent enjoying all the fun and sun that the Dominican Republic has to offer. The 15 Cook Islands are scattered across the south Pacific over about two million square kilometres, an area the size of India. These unspoilt Polynesian tropical gems have a combined population of an average country town: about 14,000 unique and friendly souls. Most Cook Islanders dwell on the capital island of Rarotonga, which is also where most of the 70,000-odd annual visitors stop off, arriving at the island’s international airport.Circular Rarotonga is almost completely enclosed by a reef, harbouring a lagoon of clear turquoise water and white sandy beaches. The small island is dominated by a high mountain peak from which lush rain forests cascade down to the palm-fringed shore. The commercial centre of the islands is the friendly, bustling town of Avarua on Rarotonga, which has banks, shops and tourist facilities as well as a busy port and yacht basin. The outer islands are becoming increasingly popular for excursions, but remain largely unspoiled by tourism. The Cook Islanders have their own language and government, and enjoy a vigorous and diverse culture with significant differences between each island. Even if you go no further than Rarotonga, though, you will be ensured of a dream ‘South Seas’ holiday experience on the pristine beaches, snorkelling the reef, or exploring the island by bus, bicycle or jeep.

New Zealand is a small, sparsely populated country consisting of two major islands, North and South Island, and a scattering of smaller ones. Despite its small size it is crammed with magnificent natural beauty and has an incredible amount to offer; the only complaint travellers have is that they haven’t allowed enough time in the country. Fresh air, breathtaking scenery and outdoor activities are the main attractions of New Zealand. The two islands have surprisingly different characters. The North Island has dramatic volcanic landscapes and highly active thermal areas, long stretches of beautiful beaches and excellent sailing, ancient indigenous forests and a strong Maori cultural influence. The South Island has a slower pace of life dominated by a magnificent spine of mountains, the snow-covered Southern Alps, and the spectacular scenery of the southern waterways of the fjord lands, with glaciers, deep lakes and verdant forests. New Zealand offers a huge variety of action-packed and laid back activities, from bungee jumping to skiing, swimming with dolphins, scenic flights and boat cruises on the fjords, as well as several world famous walking trails with unrivalled scenery. Alternatively visitors can immerse themselves in culture at the museums and galleries of the country’s main cities – Auckland and the capital Wellington in the North, and Christ Church in the south. New Zealand is an easy and compact place in which to travel and its spectacularly dramatic landscape alone, famous for its setting for the ‘The Lord of the Rings’ film trilogy, makes the long trip to these southern islands more than worthwhile.
